Humidtropics Provides Space for Inclusive, Evidence-Based, Bottom-Up Policy Making in Uganda

Following the establishment of Humidtropics’ Innovation Platforms (IPs) in Uganda in 2013, a number of activities that target livelihoods improvement have been implemented. While IPs provide spaces for different actors to learn together, and research provides the necessary evidence to make sound investment decisions, so far, the bulk of the agronomic evidence produced by Humidtropics is being used by smallholders at the farm level. Getting Down to Business to Enhance Scaling of Innovation Platform Activities

Humidtropics uses Innovation Platforms (IPs) as one approach to achieve its agricultural research for development (R4D) objectives. IPs aim for innovations that can respond to site-specific constraints, through a process of participatory decision-making in which a variety of stakeholders collaborate. Stakeholders involved in the process are farmers, scientists and representatives from public and private sector.
