Humidtropics Launches Research for Development Platform in Ethiopia

Humidtropics has been implementing action research activities in Ethiopia since 2014 through local innovation platforms established in two field sites in Jeldu and Diga districts in the western part of the country. These local innovation platforms were originally established in 2011 by the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) as part of the Nile Basin Development Challenge (NBDC) project, which implemented natural resource management interventions for three years in these field sites. Innovation Platforms Case Study Competition: Tapping into our Creative Potential in a Case Studies Writeshop

The Humidtropics Case Study Competition brought together twelve individuals to document stories of innovation platforms from various countries in the developing world. A facilitated writeshop held at the Nairobi headquarters of the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) from February 24-27, 2015, enabled participants to spend a week focused on writing­–an often complex, challenging and isolating process. Equitable Rural Development: Impact Study on Public Policies and Women

Seeking to share the results of the Humidtropics study on the Impact of Public Policies on Rural Women and their Protagonism for Equitable, Integrated Rural Development, 43 representatives from 20 member organizations of the Nicanorte Territorial Learning Alliances gathered to discuss the socio-economic implications of the country’s public policy framework as it affects the particular case of rural women.
