Public Policies and their Influence on Rural Women’s Agency

The phenomenon of single women and female heads of household is widespread in the Nicaraguan countryside. It is estimated that 34% of rural households are headed by women and this proportion increases in the poorest strata. The participation of women in productive agricultural activities also increases with the degree of poverty and can make up more than 50% of the workforce. Digital Libraries for Better Access to Information in Remote Territories

Although we are in the information age, information is not always available where and when we need it. This is especially true in remote territories of developing countries, where it remains a challenge to generate simple delivery mechanisms to provide local organizations and farm households with easy access to multiple sources of information on critical themes that concern them. Reaping the Benefits of the Quesungual + Forages Project

On October 22, Humidtropics' Central America and Caribbean Flagship team conducted a Field Day for the release of the Final Report of the Quesungual + Forages Project, alongside the Nicaraguan Institute for Agricultural Technology (INTA) and representatives of research centers, public sector, and national and regional extension workers.
