Celebrating 10 Years of CIALCA’s Science for Improving Livelihoods!

Over the past 10 years, CIALCA, the Consortium for Improving Agricultural Livelihoods in Central Africa, has played a pioneering and pivotal role in applied integrated systems research, actions and innovative partnerships in the Great Lakes Region. Since the establishment of the consortium in 2006, CIALCA has contributed to lifting an estimated number of 560,000 people out of poverty in Burundi, Rwanda and eastern DRC. State of Integrated Systems Research in NW Vietnam: First R4D Platform Newsletter

The fragmented landscape of Northwest Vietnam. Humidtropics' Central Mekong Flagship team in Northwest Vietnam launched its first Newsletter in April. Taking stock of what was achieved in 2015, the team sets the stage for 2016 with plans to further expand their R4D Platform project, working on integrated upland farming systems innovations, and nutrients management for coffee. Lessons Learned Implementing Multi-Stakeholder Processes in Central Africa

The Great Lakes region of Central Africa is an area abundant in hills, people and conflicts. Its high altitude and cooler climate make it ideal for agriculture. But soils have been exhausted, spare land is no longer available, and farm households in parts of this region rank among the most food insecure and malnourished on earth.
